The Three Stooges Eighty Year Legacy includes over 220 films which are more popular today than ever
The Three Stooges have been popular for four generations. They achieved such stardom in Vaudeville comedy shows in the late 1920s, that in the early 1930s they were offered film contracts by five major film studios. The Three Stooges finally settled in at Columbia Pictures where they made 190 short-films and a variety of features for twenty-four years. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s they continued performing live on stages around the country and even in Europe. In the 1950s they began starring in a series of feature films, and by the time they made a TV pilot in 1970, most of their 220 films had already been showing on television nationwide and around the world for decades.
Over eighty years since they first began their comedy antics, The Three Stooges films still regularly appear on television every day of the week all over the world. Many of their features are considered comedy classics. Three Stooges comedy festivals that feature their films are regularly held around the country, and The Three Stooges Official Fan Club is as vibrant as ever. The faces of Larry, Moe and Curly are more recognizable than many of our most popular film stars of today. Many performers of today repeatedly borrow from and mimic the great comedy routines of The Three Stooges. No other entertainer can boast such claims. Which is why we can easily state that The Three Stooges are the greatest comedy team of all time.
The excitement continues as The Three Stooges are back to entertain and delight a new generation of fans with their first feature film in over 50 years! The all new movie is written and directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the creative duo behind the hit comedies “There’s Something About Mary” and “Dumb and Dumber,” and featuring an all star cast, including Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, Larry David, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson and Jane Lynch. Twentieth Century Fox Studios distributed the exciting new movie worldwide in 2012.
